I can safely say AFROPUNK was one of the coolest events I’ve ever been to in London. The venue, the line-up, the food, the market, the sound quality, the art; all of it was next level but most importantly – the people were amazing. There was an incredible vibe and fun, friendly atmosphere throughout, all created by the most diverse & funky festival crowd I have ever been a part of.
This was the second edition of AFROPUNK London, owing to the success of its inaugural year, it changed to a two-day celebration held in Printworks and it was perfect. Here’s the best stuff we saw on Saturday at AFROPUNK 2017.
Danny Brown didn’t disappoint, he brought his usual unrelenting energy and high-octane live performance to Printworks with him.
Danny Brown – Really Doe
The Heavy were certainly a highlight. Such an incredible band and frontman, with some huge crowd pleasing tuned to boot
What Makes a Good Man
How You Like Me Now
A truly unique festival moment occurred when the DJ dropped Cameo – Candy and the entire main stage crowd danced in complete synchronisation. Check out the video – how does everybody know all the moves?
The Internet rounded off the day’s entertainment and absolutely killed it. The whole band were sick and we were even treated to some tunes from Syd and Matt Martians newer solo albums. The crowd absolutely loved it.
The Internet – Girl
I documented the day on both Snapchat and Instagram and have included the story I shot on my phone here. It gives a better depiction of the festival as a whole and just how unbelievably cool the whole experience was.
I have to apologise for switching between portrait and landscape snaps – I may or may not have a had a few beers and forgot that I would later be uploading the story. I hope you can forgive me – don’t strain your neck.
