Warning! I am about to introduce you to your new favourite twosome. Do not continue reading if you don’t want to fall in love with IDER – the English girls striding on to the scene in an unstoppable fashion.
IDER are a north London based duo made up of Megan Markwick and Lily Somerville. They’ve gone from strength to strength to strength with their first three singles released this year. The pair have been impressing the right people since their debut release in April. BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart is one of the tastemakers who gave the duo immediate support and put IDER as one of his “Future Firsts”. “Sorry” had just been released on Soundcloud and in a matter of minutes Taggart got in touch. It’s easy to see why:

One month later IDER released their second single “Pulse”. This tune gained serious traction and fast. Today it has been streamed 581,000 times on Spotify. This song is bigger and bolder than their debut single, it remains wonderfully balanced as it swings from a lullaby-like tune to an intense electronic-tinged ballad. Get your ears on it below:
Megan and Lily started making music when they moved in together last summer and they haven’t looked back since. Fans have been quick to jump on board the hype train, some of which are exactly the kind of cool supporters a new act can only hope to attract with their first few songs. This list includes Aurora, Tourist and Shura among others, a pretty groovy fan base we think you’ll agree. IDER’s sound is every bit as London Grammar as it is Oh Wonder mixed with FKA Twigs.
The latest release “King Ruby” is a personal favourite, IDER have managed to fuse holiday-reminiscent music with haunting harmonies and I believe both of these aspects of the song are endearingly complimentary. See for yourself:
IDER have been announced for the Great Escape’s First Fifty showcase, so you can see them in action in London next month. They will be playing in Kamio alongside fellow First Fifty acts James Hersey and Plaitum. Get tickets to this show HERE
