New Music: Habitats

If you can listen to Habitats and not dance, then we’re going to come around your house and conduct experiments on you, because there’s a high probability that you’re not human…

Hampshire 4-piece Habitats have been building pace for a while now. The band is made up of Michael Lawford, James Furniss, Joe Payne & Adam Saunders but to assign definitive roles to each of these lads would kind of miss the point. Habitats are fluid entity of indie-pop / tropical groove goodness. Others have already commentated that they’ve not heard rhythms like this since the inceptions of Foals, The Rapture & more recently Peace, careered onto the scene. We definitely concur but we’d probably like to add a touch of Screamadelica era Primal Scream to that comparison list as well. The intro to their latest track “Boogie Waltzer” radiates the sort of funk you’d expect from a scene of Jackie Brown. Take a listen to it below along with other tracks released earlier in the year which have received some serious air-play from from radio luminaries such as Huw Stevens, Steve Lamacq & John Kennedy.

Habitats play The Lexington for Parrallel Lines tonight and you can check out all their upcoming shows right here www.ticketweb.co.uk/habitats
