Jack, Sam, Jeremy and Lee comprise the Australian indie architects known as City Calm Down.
Pure-post punk. British new wave influences; Joy Division and The Cure blend with nods to the work of Interpol & The National.
Whilst still relatively unknown here in the UK, City Calm Down are already an established force to be reckoned with in their native Australia packing out venues across the country including Melbourne’s 1000-cap 170 Russell venue.
Their debut album In a Restless House was described by Rolling Stone Australia as “a sleek package of emotive dance-pop” and reached number 25 on the Australian album charts. The band are currently putting the finishing touches on their as-yet-untitled second album scheduled for release in early 2018.
We were honoured to hear a sneak peak into what that record holds when the band headlined the TicketWeb stage at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen as part of The Great Escape’s First Fifty showcase.
