New Music: Blossoms

‘Charlemagne’ from Stockport’s Blossoms is one of the catchiest songs of the year. The track has been getting heavy rotation from the likes of Radio X, 6 Music and Radio 1 and every play attracts a new army of fans ready to back the cause. At less than 3 minutes long it gives you the perfect first impressions of what Blossoms are all about.

Honing their craft from a wide array of influences (the comparisons with The Stone Roses are inevitable) Blossoms have clearly worked hard to create a sound that not only sounds brand new, but also warmly familiar. It doesn’t take long to feel like you’ve known the band’s music for a lot longer than you have.

An absolute force of a live band, its clear Blossoms have put the hours in at band practice. They’ve sold out venues up and down the country including a massive hometown gig at Manchester’s Albert Hall. A very impressive feat for a band that is yet to out their debut album.

2016 looks like it’s going to be a good one for the Blossoms lads. A huge headline tour is booked and an album is surely imminent.
