Introducing: Alex Lahey

Who?

Melbourne 20-something Alex Lahey who loves a fuzz pedal, Wes Anderson films and cats – plus a motley crew of mates from high-school.

The Sound…

Some pretty ace fuzzed-out slacker rock provides the soundtrack to some on-the-money commentary on early adult life. For a full intro check out B-Grade University below. The E.P. came out on the fab Dead Oceans label (home to Mitski, Bleached & Kevin Morby) late last year (although Alex had previously released it completely independently).

Plus, announced this week, check out “Alex Lahey – Every Day’s The Weekend” – the first single from Alex’s full length debut “I Love You Like A Brother” which comes out on Dead Oceans on October 6th.

The Story

Alex went to Uni to play the Sax but it didn’t agree with her. Thankfully, academia’s loss is our gain and by the time Ms. Lahey would have been doing her finals she was releasing B-Grade University and playing Australia’s Splendour In The Grass festival! Stay in school kids : )
