Autumn has arrived and festival season is a distant memory... Or is it? First Fifty is here to save us from the doom and gloom.
Chorus-drenched dreamy soundscapes inspired by the cream of an alternative 1980s that blur the border between electronic music and the singer-songwriting tradition like only Arthur Russell has done before.
Westerman – Outside Sublime
Having performed in choirs whilst at school Westerman began to explore his own music by teaching himself guitar in his teens – mostly through an exploration of guitar bands from the early 2000s. He continued to write while studying for a Philosophy degree and self-released his first tracks in 2016 before putting out a succession of EPs (many in collaboration with producer Bullion) via Blue Flowers Music (also home to Puma Blue). In the process Westerman has been championed by everyone from Pitchfork, Noisey to Spin and Stereogum before being named as part of DIY Magazine’s Class of 2019 just last week.
