Festival Guide: The Great Escape’s First Fifty
Autumn has arrived and festival season is a distant memory... Or is it? First Fifty is here to save us from the doom and gloom.

Check out the former Cherry Glazerr member, now going it alone.
Los Angeles based musician SASAMI released her hauntingly beautiful self-titled debut solo album in March 2019, a far cry from the riff driven music of her former indie-rock outfit Cherry Glazerr. The record spirals through ethereal sounds, teaming up with members of SASAMI’s (real name Sasami Ashworth) close-knit musical community for a truly immersive listen.
Find out more about SASAMI below…
Who?
Los Angeles based multi-instrumentalist and serial collaborator Sasami Ashworth.
The sound
Musically complex yet hauntingly beautiful, her debut record showcases a deep understanding and passion for musical experimentation. From the fuzzed out punk of Not The Time to the electro leanings of the deeply introverted Turns Out I Was Everyone, through the gentle melancholy of At Hollywood, SASAMI captures the sun-kissed fog of her West Coast surroundings.
The story
Raised in a musical family, Ashworth picked up the French horn at an early age, and travelled the world as part of a youth orchestra. Enticed by Los Angeles’ burgeoning world of indie-rock, Sasami went on to form connections with other emerging stars including Haim and Empress Of. Building on her ever-growing network of musical collaborators, peers and friends, she joined guitar-driven outfit Cherry Glazerr. During her final tour with the band, Sasami penned her debut solo album with just a guitar. Now, she’s pulled it all together into full-time solo project filled with broken honesty.
