Introducing: Forth Wanderers

Forth Wanderers are a five-piece Indie band hailing from Montclair New Jersey. They are about to casually wander in to your life with their chilled-out, slacker anthems whether you like it or not.

Believe it or not Forth Wanderers nicked their band name from a Scottish non-league football team. The bands starting line up looks like this;

Ava Trilling- Vocals, Ben Guterl- Guitar, Zach Lorelli- Drums, Duke Greene- Guitar, Noah Schifrin- Bass

The Sound

So, Ben writes the songs and Ava comes up with the lyrics and melodies, this certainly seems like a winning combination so far. The latest release Slop is a critically acclaimed four track EP released in November 2016. This EP places the band in the same sound bracket as bands like Pavement, Built to Spill and Bedhead, albeit with a frontwoman rather than a frontman.

The young band have hinted similarities to Mac Demarco and even Guided By Voices, with three releases under their belts since 2014 we are intrigued by the prospect of new material and how the sound develops.

The Story

Forth Wanderers in their current form i.e the band signed to Marathon Artists and Father/Daughter Records, came to be in 2013 when Ava Trilling joined Ben Guterl’s band made up of his classmates Zach, Duke and Noah. They were all in the same high school, a school that Ava graduated from just last June, the lads are juniors in college… UK translation: they’re legally old enough to drink here but not in the states.

Youth however, has not limited their creative output – the band have released three records to date and have recently made a mark on the international Indie circuit with Slop. The title track has been streamed over 350,000 on Spotify and has earned the band fans from all walks of life including Kiwi royalty Lorde:

Forth Wanderers are a captivating and naturally tight live band that you will be able to see when school’s out.

Essential Tracks

The Line Of Best Fit coined “Slop” as the redefined slacker anthem. The almost lethargic Lo-Fi guitar riffs coupled with Ava’s relaxing vocal make for a delightful listen. See for yourself:

“Unfold” is another beauty from the Slop EP, press play for some honest and emotive lyricism delivered expertly by Ava Trilling.
