Introducing: Big Thief

Big Thief – the perfect response to those twonks who say great rock bands are dead…

Brookyln based  indie-rock 4-piece featuring Adrianne Lenker (guitar, vocals), Buck Meek (guitar), Max Oleartchik (bass), and James Krivchenia (drums).

The Sound…

Tracks range from brooding odes to vulnerability to crashing acts of defiance. Lyrically brutal, Lenker documents one woman’s trails and tribulations in a way that is both deeply personally and utterly relatable. For fans of The National, Sharron Van Etten & Wye Oak.

The Story

Signed to Saddle Creek (famously home to the likes of Bright Eyes & The Thermals amongst others) their sophomore album Capacity hit the streets June 9th this year. Unlike their first album “Masterpiece” which was recorded in a snowy winter nest in upstate New York; most of the songs on Capacity were played for the first time in the studio and were recorded the same day.

Essential Tracks

While it might be the Capacity LP that launches the band to a whole new level; the bands’s debut record Masterpiece is an absolutely  stellar record.  Check out two of the best from that long player below…
