Presenting the post-punk four piece breaking out of Brighton in a big way.
Essential listening and a must-see project for fans of IAMAMIWHOAMI, Bjork and Phobophobes, you can catch the band live in London this September.
A left of centre, at times spoken word duo making doomy electronica that’s sonically just the right side of unhinged. audiobooks produce records that are half songs / half monologues; narratives that evoke the writings of Irvine Welsh being soundtracked by Arab Strap’s ‘First Big Weekend’.
Slyly lifting the lid on the barely concealed malevolence seething beneath the surface of late-night Suburbia, audiobooks make music that’s charged with a dark sense of humour and that’s not afraid to jolt the listener. The final product is thrilling, disorienting and downright mesmerising.
audiobooks are singer and saxophonist Evangeline Ling plus synthesiser player and guitarist David Wrench. Signed to Heavenly Recordings, home to TicketWeb favourites Gwenno and Stealing Sheep, the duo have enjoyed an already eventful 2018 thanks to an electric appearance at The Great Escape Festival at the now legendary end-of-the-pier party bar Horatios, plus shows at London’s Sebright Arms and Lexington. They’ve also released their debut EP ‘Gothenburg’, plus singles ‘Hot Salt’ and ‘Mother Hen’
Debut album Now! (in a minute) is released on CD, Vinyl and Digital on 2 November. You can pre-order it here.
