This Week’s Best Gigs… 03 April 2017

You know that going to gigs is good for your mental wellbeing right?  Not that you need an excuse but that’s a pretty good one. Here are 7 shows this week we reckon are worth checking out.

Monday – You Me At Six @ O2 Academy Newcastle

The UK pop-punkers are on tour in support of their fifth studio album Night People.

Tuesday – The Academic @ The Camden Assembly, London

Up-and-coming Irish indie rockers The Academic have written one of the catchiest songs of the last 12 months. (below) See them in smaller venues while you still can.

Wednesday – Rose Elinor Dougall @ Bodega Social Club, Nottingham

She kept her fans waiting, but the ex-Pipettes singer and Mark Ronson collaborator finally released her sophomore album Stellular earlier this year. It’s excellent and so is she.

Thursday – CHILDCARE @ Sebright Arms, London

Hotly tipped CHILDCARE (who you may have seen on tour with Bastille last year) play a hometown show at the ace Sebright Arms this week. Perfect for a Thursday night if you ask us.

Friday – Frances @ O2 Institute Birmingham

Her debut album Things I’ve Never Said has been played loads in our office since its release two weeks ago. Frances is a force live.

Saturday – Flying Vinyl Festival @ Oval Space, London

In what must be one of, if not the first festival of the summer, Flying Vinyl host an all-dayer with a crazy good line-up! The Wytches, Spring King, Hidden Charms, Traams and more head to Hackney on Saturday.

Sunday – Holly Macve @ Cluny 2, Newcastle

We’re big fans of the Brighton singer-songwriter and you should be too. Catch her performing songs from her excellent debut record Golden Eagle.
