We Went Record Shopping In Brighton With Gothic Tropic

It’s the day of your debut album’s release and you’re on tour, what do you do? Go to the nearest record store of course! The morning after catching her storming set at The Great Escape Festival, we took Cecilia Della Peruti, the brains behind Gothic Tropic to Brighton’s Resident Music to pick up her excellent debut album Fast or Feast, and some other records too. Here’s what she chose…

Wand – Golem

“This is an L.A band called Wand. The brainchild of local shredder Corey Hanson; If you like heavy, shredding guitar psychedelic awesome prog-rock, you will love this record.”

Chelsea Wolfe – Abyss

“This is my dear friend Chelsea Wolfe’s record. This record is really beautiful. She’s kind of like a haunting, gothic princess. She has one of my favourite voices and she’s one of my favourite songwriters.”

Toro y Moi – What For?

“This record is super instrumental, it’s got more live instrumentation than some of the other Toro y Moi stuff. It’s really beautiful. It’s instrumental genius without being too heady. It’s really fun and funky.”

Ibeyi – Ibeyi

“Ibeyi are sisters, they have really gorgeous minimal production tracks. They do a lot of vocal work. It’s pretty much like vocals with simple beats. My favourite track on the record is “River,” it’s really gorgeous.”

Gothic Tropic – Fast or Feast

(Laughs) “This is a good record, whatever.”

Gothic Tropic’s debut album Fast or Feast is out now!
