Band on the Wall has been a cornerstone of Manchester’s thriving music and cultural landscape for the greater part of a century. The unusual name harks back to the building’s days as The George and Dragon pub in the early 20th Century. Regulars would affectionately refer to the ‘Band on the Wall’ as the place where house musicians quite literally played on a stage halfway up the back wall to make room in the busy pub.

There has been countless ‘I was there’ moments over the years, but recent shows with Ibibio Sound Machine, Yussef Kamaal, Cory Wong from Vulfpeck, Asian Dub Foundation and Courtney Pine are certainly ones that will live long in the memory!
How do I get there?
Band on the Wall is located in the Northern Quarter, just 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly Gardens bus station and 15 minutes walk from both Piccadilly and Victoria train Stations.
There are a number of 24-hour car parks within a couple of minutes walk from the venue.
There are also a number of bike racks outside the venue.

In their Picturehouse Bar! we serve up a range of freshly-prepared pizzas, hot and cold bar snacks and more.

Best place to stand?
If you want a clear view and don’t want to get too hot in the crowd, get down early for a good spot on the mezzanine, otherwise get right into the thick of the action and head to the front!
