What do you usually do on Friday nights when you’re not providing the entertainment at Club NME?
I’m usually at a bar somewhere, whether I’m working at one, or drinking at one 🙂
What’s the closest you’ve got to a weekend that could have been straight out of The Hangover?
I’m not the kind of guy that has a good awareness of past times, but I set the record of 20 pints of Guinness on Saint Paddy’s Day once, with the kind assistance of Jack Jones. I remember being pissed for about three days after that night, like.
What are your ultimate Friday night party jams?
Jams?! You can’t fault a bit of Blackberry Jam, like. ‘Blank Generation’ by Richard Hell is a classic. ‘Friday I’m in Love’, of course by the Cure. I’m also partial to a bit of Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’.
What are you drinking – do you have a tipple of choice?
Guinness is Standard. Triple Jägermeister & Red Bull if I wanna notch it up!
How long do you spend looking in the mirror before you’re ready to hit the town?
Jack will tell you I spend more time getting ready to go out then any of the girls, but that’s not the whole truth. We have very few mirrors now, we kept selling them to pay for rent, so it’s a bit of a fight for time & space really. But to answer the question, it depends on the occasion. Between 10 seconds & 10 minutes.
You’re at a club, where can we expect to find you – loitering at the bar, throwing some shapes on the dance floor, chatting someone up, sitting in a corner?
Depends how many red bulls I’ve had…I usually start sitting in the corner, then I start chatting about shit for hours with someone, then I’ll end up making a fool of myself on the dance floor. Standard really.
You’ve just left the club and you’re looking for a 4am snack, what’s your go-to post-club grub?
Cheesy chips. Every Time.
Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever spotted on a night out?
Karl Pilkington. I bought him a Twix and he smiled.
What’s your best/worst journey home story? Ever got stranded in the middle of nowhere?
It’s hard for me to remember any journeys home to be honest…I’m known for losing the van keys or locking them in the van, and that’s without coming home drunk from a night out. The classic story is falling asleep on the train back to Hornsey and ending up in Welwyn Garden City and then having to spend an extra £50 to get taxi home! Done that three times. Gutted. I just use Uber now.
Worst Friday night injury – Frinjury, if you will?
Well Jack smashed his front teeth out on a wooden chair the night before a show once….cracking smiles all round. We looked like we had an escaped convict fronting the band – He looked a bit like Jim Carry in Dumb & Dumber.
My mate stood on a glass once as well. It was awful. I took his shoe off for him & blood just poured from it like a river.
Saturday morning has rolled around and you’ve got a bit of a sore head – what’s your best hangover cure?
Coffee – Cigarettes – Aspirin…. (Repeat)
