The songs Tim Wheeler penned as part of Ash provided an amazing soundtrack to some formative years for a few of the “old-hands” at TicketWeb HQ. In many ways I always think of “1977” as containing some key ingredients of the perfect teenage album, brash and idealistic.
Time rolls on though, and everyone, including teenage rock stars, has to roll with it. With this in mind it’s really interesting to hear how the songwriter we knew in our adolescence has continued to document his life in song. Tim’s been kind enough to grant us preview access to his debut album “Lost Domain” prior to it’s release on Monday (10th of November 2014). You can stream the whole album in full stream here. As an accompaniment to the stream Tim has also provided some insightful liner notes to each song which you can read on Drowned in Sound.
The album emerges from a period of intense change for Wheeler including, most poignantly, the passing of his father who had lived with Alzheimer’s, the most common form of dementia, for a number of years. It’s fitting then that 10% from sales of the album on PledgeMusic will go to Alzheimers.org.uk. You can read a longer interview Tim gave on the Independent and for more info on the record visit lostdomainalbum.com .
