Brighton artist Salt Ashes has been making waves over the past few years with her atmospheric synthpop tunes.
The musician released her debut self-titled album in 2016, featuring the single Save It, which reached No.22 on the Billboard Dance Club Chart.
In February the artist dropped her latest single, the emotionally charged Don’t. Watch the official video for the tune below:
Salt Ashes is playing a huge show at London’s Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London on Friday 14 June 2019, and to celebrate, we got the musician to make us a playlist of some of her favourite tunes to listen to whilst on the road, and tell us a bit about them.
Take a listen below:
Grimes – We Appreciate Power
This track just makes me want to move, scream, writhe, feel. It’s so raw and industrial with a great message.
LP – Lost On You
This track puts me in a state of calm and bliss. I adore LP’s voice and just think this is great songwriting. The chorus gets me every time. This live session is so awesome!!!
JYLDA – The Body
I’ve been working with JYLDA recently who’s a new artist that I’m so excited by. She has a Bjork and Lykke Li vibe to me. I love how free she is with her voice and producing style.
Black Honey – Midnight
Black Honey are friends of mine and have been going from strength to strength. I’m addicted to Izzy’s lyrics and their visuals are insane. She shares my passion with putting as much effort into the visuals as the music.
Sevdaliza – Darkest Hour
The build in this song is delicious. It takes you on a journey through security and dreaminess until the drop which just makes you want to dance. Sevdaliza is a great artist who, in my opinion, is creating gold at the moment.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Sacrilege
It’s an old one but so, so good. The video for this is so captivating, I love the concept and how dark it is.
Salt Ashes plays Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London on Friday 14 June 2019. Tickets are available now through TicketWeb
