Playlist: Fufanu – “Global warming will fry our brain, until then this will suffice”

When we asked Icelandic rockers Fufanu to make us a playlist around any theme they wanted, we weren’t quite expecting them to come back with “global warming will fry our brain, until then this will suffice,” but we’ll roll with it! The band are due to release their second album Sports via One Little Indian on Feb 3rd and you can preorder it now via this handy link. They’re also touring the UK in Feb. Listen to, and read why they chose each track below!

Captain Beefheart – “Diddy Wah Diddy”

The First Single by Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, a cover of a song by the great Bo Diddley. This Track has the most badass bass sound ever.

Inferno 5 – “Three Piece Suit”

These guys have been making electronic music in Iceland since the ’80s. They recently released this track along with this beautiful video.

Shelley Duvall – He needs me (demo)

Harry Nilsson wrote the songs for the 1980 film Popeye. The songs were sung by the characters in the film. This demo version of Shelley Duvall singing He Needs Me is much more stripped down than the version from the movie itself.

 Asmus Tietchens – Blutmund

The goddamn Germans always make the best music. This is one of the masters of German electronic music, and still going strong

Voigt & Voigt – Der Keil NRW

The Voigt brothers from Cologne always come up with something that will blow up your mind. This is hands down one of the best tracks released in the last few years. Turn the volume up for this one!

Kraftwerk – Expo 2000

One of the best sounding tracks out there by the best band of all time. These guys always sound like the future.

 Kuldaboli – Leyndardómar Frímúrarareglunnar

Kuldaboli is making the best electronic music in Iceland at the moment.

The Fall – Dr. bucks letter

For almost 40 years Mark E. Smith has been making interesting sounds with various members of The Fall and he still is.

 Konsulat — Invaders

Our friends in Konsulat released a really cool album in late 2016, and we can’t recommend them enough.

Ron Wray Light Show – Speed

Released in 1970 but still one of the fuzziest songs of all time.
