New Music: The Tin Pigeons

The Tin Pigeons are sparking an indie-folk fire with their new EP. The East Midlands foursome are on a mission to pump out their fresh sound and take the indie scene by storm.

Fraser (Guitar, Lead Vocals), George (Banjo, Vocals, Percussion), Doug (Guitar, Vocals) and Tom (Bass, Percussion, Vocals) started off by producing two EPs that were on the Folky-er side of their genre hyphen. They’ve channelled that folk lyricism into funky grooves coupled with shimmering vocals to create the new Sparks EP. Think of a bicycle/cinema club in Bombay… with two doors.

Sparks was released in April and has enjoyed some warranted radio air time. The title track (below) has been on more BBC introducing playlists than you can shake a stick at. You can see why: It’s a complimentary cacophony of sounds that is casually catchy and current.

Next up on the new EP is “Sirens” a shimmering summertime song that surrounds the listener in good vibes. Check it out:

“What would You Say” also fits the positive feels associated with a warm weather buzz, whether this is the climatic case in reality or not. See for yourself:

The band certainly has a trendy Notting Hill feel to it – which is appropriate as they have been turning heads and garnering fans by playing numerous sets at Notting Hill Arts Club. Their most recent gig there on the 20th of July was particularly awesome.

The Tin Pigeons have been heavily involved in the festival circuit so far and are playing a BBC Introducing at Club NME gig in Koko next month when it all calms down.
