South West Londoner of Ugandan descent Dylan Williams has left a successful modelling career behind to attack the rap game. His first few songs suggest that no matter how good a model he is…he was born to rap.
Talented AND handsome? I know what you’re thinking, sometimes life’s not fair but when you’ve got it – you’ve got it and Dylan Williams has it by the bucket load.
The above video is getting praise left right and centre, it’s an ingenious and simple production that complements the banging tune. “Changes” is Williams’ debut track and what a way to step out on to the scene. There is nothing too fancy or complex about this song; these days nearly every new artist is trying to do too much and it doesn’t translate well. This is a great example of a clean track with no messing around. Williams has a story to tell and he is doing so in a clear and stylish manner.
He is not preachy or arrogant by any means, this is an interesting dude who has already grasped the importance of variety when releasing hip-hop and rap songs. The most impressive thing is that he has only released three! Case and point, check out the below track “Wheres My Headphones”. Although there is more to this song than a lost pair of headphones, it shows that Williams does not take himself too seriously.

One might assume that a model turned rapper, who has spent some of his youth in Uganda now living in London is too niche, and that is a fair assumption. However the above songs and “Vibe” (below) confirm the opposite. Dylan Williams is penning down relatable lyrics and delivering them over standout, groove inducing beats in an attention-grabbing fashion.

He landed the support slot for Atlanta rapper SY Ari Da Kid’s upcoming East London show at Oslo and, oh yeah did I mention it will be Williams’ first ever live performance? Sy Ari Da Kid has amassed over 10 million Soundcloud plays and has a big following. This is the opportunity Williams has been waiting for to show how undeniably talented a performer he is. We’re sure he’s gonna smash it.
