New Music: Cosima

Check out the effortlessly cool 22-year-old electro-soul Peckhamite…

The singer-songwriter has sauntered on to the scene in a pretty casual fashion. With only two tracks available online, both released this year, Cosima has made some serious waves.

Released today is the self-directed video for “Girls Who Get Ready” – a song which explores the trade-off between enjoying the night out preparation process, and feeling like it has to be done in order to meet other people’s expectations. The track is a classic slice of William Orbit era All Saints and features goats, cake and mircro-pigs – all our favourite things.  Lyrically it’s deliciously gritty – “I don’t want to be a faceless lover. I don’t want to be the freak you fuck with.” Have a listen below…

Cosima – Girls Who Get Ready

It follows “Had To Feel Something” which dropped in July and the video was filmed on the same Peckham streets by which inspired the track . Smokey vocals float over a superb walking bassline in what could be the greatest collaboration Everything But The Girl & Kelis never got round to producing.

Tipped by The Fader, Noisey & TLOBF, Cosima‘s first live performance scheduled for October 25th at the awesome Nines in Peckham sold out in a flash!
