John Newman has had a pretty big couple of years, you’ve got to admit. From lending his vocals for two absolutely massive Rudiemental tracks, Feel the Love and Not Giving In, the former of which going to number one, to releasing his debut solo single, ‘Love Me Again’, a heartfelt plea to his ex-girlfriend to take him back after cheating on her (which went straight in at number one over the summer) and releasing his debut album, Tribute this week (are you still with us?). Mental, yes? Agreed.
That massive track he did with Rudimental last year, as if you didn’t know it
Still, it’s not all number ones and ex-girlfriends for Mr Newman. Last year when Feel The Love was just hitting its peak, John was having brain surgery to remove a non-cancerous tumor. He says when he came round, his girlfriend at the time turned the radio on to hear it playing, which we can imagine was nothing short of super-surreal after that little bout of brain surgery.
That song about cheating on his girlfriend
Anyway, thankfully Newman is now fighting fit and has just released his fantastic debut album, Tribute. Tales of love and heartbreak are the main theme on the album – given his dramatic personal life, that’s pretty understandable – but they’re emotive and mature, just like his unmistakeable voice.
With albums undoubtedly come tours, and John Newman is not one to disappoint. He’s just announced a huuuuuuuge UK tour that kicks off at the end of January 2014 and takes him to Bristol, Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Sheffield. Anyway, all you really need to know is that the tickets go on sale MONDAY 21ST OCTOBER, make sure you don’t miss out
