South London singer-songwriter Raheem Bakaré of Nigerian descent.
Raheem Bakaré describes his sound on his Facebook page as “R&B, Soul, Electronic and all the good stuff…” Although jokingly vague, this is an apt description as he fuses elements of each of these genres in his sound, it’s current without being mainstream and worth hearing.
The two EP’s released thus far, lead us to believe he’s much more Soulful than Pop, more Miguel than Chris Brown. Sort of like old skool Usher with modern trippy Electronic RnB production, make no mistake though Raheem Bakaré is a unique London artist putting out downright cool tunes that are solely his own.
Bakaré is a clever songwriter and expertly plays to his strengths while writing about personal experience. He’s an undeniably talented singer “Forever You” in particular, showcases Bakaré’s impressive falsetto – stick it on:
Raheem Bakaré released a solid debut EP in 2014, he got some good traction off it too but decided to take a decent chunk of time to create his second EP “Lucid Soul Dream”. The record came out last year and has had over half a million streams on Spotify.
He shared the Noisey stage at Lovebox in 2017 with Solange, Sampha, Kaytranada, Ray BLK & other cutting-edge artists. He’s effectively reintroduced himself on the scene and is bound for a big year.
Unsurprisingly “L S D” feat. Bento.BDA displays the more “dreamy” side of Raheem’s sound.
“Portrait Of Love” is a tune from Bakaré’s debut EP Awol and shows the consistent quality of his work.
Where can I see him live?
