Introducing: Manu Crook$

Familiarise yourself with Manu Crook$ the Sydney-based artist who's looking to become Australia's biggest Hip-Hop export.

Who?

Sydney – based Ghana-native Manu Crook$

The Sound

Despite coming from Australia Manu Crook$ encapsulates the best of the 2017 Atlanta Trap-Rap sound in his music. With Dopamine on production, the beats are heavy dance orientated attention grabbers. Crook$ is the star of the show though – he’s an impressive rapper and singer AND producer in his own right! Manu comes in with an effortless flow and enjoys switching up styles, this is evident and executed to perfection on his standalone singles and Mood Forever EP as a whole.

The Story

Manu’s mantra is three-fold “conform never, speak little, assert always”

Crook$ moved to Sydney from Ghana with his family when he was 12 years old. He grew up with creative kids in Sydney’s suburbs making mates with fellow artists, rappers and producers. Manu eventually got access to a studio where he could record his vocal and master his craft. Dopamine – an up and coming producer refined his beats and worked with Manu in creating his hard-hitting sound that you can’t ignore.

Straight away, Manu Crook$ started gaining some traction in the music industry, his first three releases were championed by Zane Lowe and world-renowned radio stations Triple J and Beats 1. Crook$ supported popular Detroit rapper Danny Brown on his Australian tour last year and did not disappoint. Manu’s upward trajectory is helping put Australian Hip-Hop on the map. He has an entire hemisphere on his back and he’s just taking it in his stride.
