Kara Marni has emerged as a bit of a streaming sensation in recent months. She has had an epic year already, which has only improved with the addition of her latest tune “Move” released in September.
Twenty-one-year-old Londoner Kara Marni.
Inspired by the sounds of some OG soul queens such as Roberta Flack and Minnie Ripperton as well as modern era soul sensations such as Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse. Kara Marni channels the vocal energy of these legends and carves out a modern sound all her own. Marni has dubbed it futuristic, soulful, r&b sprinkled Pop.
Press play on “Move” below and I dare you not to bop your head. It’s an irresistible Pop banger.
Kara has been hooked on soul vocalists since hearing her mum playing “Loving You” by Minnie Ripperton on the school run. That was enough for her to dive into the whole genre and mimic all the legends from a young age. Now at twenty-one, she has incredible vocal chops and has arrived on the scene in 2018 thanks to some stellar releases. She has also been exposed to some big audiences from touring with Raye and Rita Ora as well as supporting Ray BLK and Madison Beer on tour last year.
She has already been backed by all the right tastemakers and media outlets in her short career. She played a BBC Introducing headline show in June. Mistajam, Toddla T & loads more radio DJ’s have hyped her up. “A creative and inspired voice. Commanding sonically and aesthetically” – Line Of Best Fit.
