Interview: Hunter Hayes

Are you ready to get crazy? Hunter Hayes is coming to the UK to play some shows later this month. We had a quick chat with the star to discuss his upcoming tour, which you can grab the last remaining tickets for HERE

On your last tour you invited fans to join you for coffee and cake. What’s your favourite sort of cake?

Ha. Coffeehouse is seriously one of my favourite times of the show day. As far as cake, coffee cake. Or just coffee. or just espresso, four shots. That is literally just as good as cake to me. Actually better.

Your album’s called I Want Crazy. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Move to Nashville right out of high school. My parents moved with me and I had a few things already in the works but it was a crazy time with chasing this crazy dream, not really knowing a lot of people and not knowing at all what I was doing but only knowing that I had to find a way to make music for the rest of my life. Easily the craziest thing I’ve ever done but I’m SO glad I did it.

What’s the thing you like most about the UK?

The people. I love the accents. I love the architecture. Love the history. Love the geography. Love the cars that we don’t have in the US. Love the vibe at the shows, just really fun and passionate about music and what it means. I just love it. Can you tell?

What do you miss from home?

My family, my dog Cole. I spend as much time with them as possible when I’m in town so it makes it harder when I leave. I’m lucky though because every now and then there’s a way to take the whole family on the road and I love that.

What was the first concert you ever went to? What was the last (that wasn’t your own)? And the best concert you’ve ever been to?

My first concert was Reba and Brooks & Dunn. My last concert was the Punch Brothers which was absolutely incredible. Best show I’ve ever seen was when I saw the punch brothers in London at a gorgeous theatre on the river downtown. It was absolutely incredible. So musical, so emotional and so real.
