Summer is finally here and we have just the band to listen to in this weather. Foxtrax make the kind of music that will make you call in sick to work and head straight to the beach. We caught up with Guitarist/Singer Ben to talk about life in LA, Burgers and what the rest of 2016 has in-store for the band.
Hello Ben! How are you and the rest of Foxtrax today?
Hey Tom, we are just living the dream, thanks for asking!
Where in the world are you right now?
We are currently residing in Sunny LA and it is damn hot in the valley!
You’re from New York, but you’re based in Los Angeles now. What’s the biggest difference between life on the west and east coasts?
The major difference is just the pace of life. Everything in NY runs at a mile a minute and LA is much more laid back. People are chilling way harder over on the west coast for sure. The weather plays a tiny role.
Since moving, how many times have you been to In-N-Out?
We’ve been there so many times, it’s a little disgusting. Actually, we would have eaten it more, but we would always try to go on Monday nights after our residency gig at Harvelle’s at 1:30am. Every time we’d show up they’d be like “sorry we just closed 5 minutes ago.” Needless to say, they never made an exception for us.
You’re playing some shows with friend of TicketWeb and all round dude Barns Courtney, how much are you looking forward to them?
We are so stoked to be playing with Barns. He’s super talented and his music is really bluesy, which we dig. We’ve definitely been putting our Spotify accounts to the private setting and playing his songs over and over for sure.
What three items are essential for survival on tour road?
Peanut Butter, Beef Jerky and Radiohead. Have you ever taken a long journey without any Radiohead? We tried it once. It wasn’t for us.
Any pre-gig rituals?
We all used to watch this tv show growing up called Rocket Power. Excellent series. Anyway all the kids in the show had this dope handshake, which we stole and now it’s what we do before every show.
Name one song everyone should go listen to right now.
Thundercat – “Them Changes”
What can we look forward to for the rest of 2016?
Our music video for “Underwater” is dropping in the first week of August. Be on the look out for it.
Anything else you want to shout about?
Don’t force it. Feel it.
