Whether the typical festival-season time-frame doesn’t suit you or you are one of those “never surrender, festival season is eternal” types; Together The People is the perfect way to round off the summer.
There is no worse feeling than realising the summer is over. What do I have to look forward to between now and Christmas? Q4 in work is always stressful, Halloween is a hoax, November is consistently miserable but wait ….. What if I told you there was a way you could prolong this feeling, an event that will even eradicate it altogether? Come along to Together The People, you’ll have so much fun it will keep you going all the way in to the New Year.
What’s Together The People Then?
Together The People is an independent, greenfield, non-camping, music and arts festival taking place in Preston Park, Brighton on the Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September 2016. As the name suggests there is an amazing sense of togetherness felt by each and every festival-goer throughout the dreamy two day experience. TTP’s primary focus is to celebrate Music, Food, Community, Film and Arts within the city of Brighton by delivering a high quality, creative, family friendly and socially aware event.
This festival has returned for its second year after the first instalment was such a roaring success. Aside from attendees of all ages collectively enjoying first-class live music, high-quality art and some of the finest food imaginable, the festival itself really followed through on its original ethos. The festival was powered by bio-diesel and solar technology, re-cycled over 5.3 tonnes of waste and generated over £2,000 in public donations for local homeless charity Brighton Housing Trust.
This is an amazing aspect of a modern day festival – being sustainable and giving back to the community. On top of all this Together The People partners with BIMM (British and Irish Modern Music Institute), the students from the music institute got to perform to the masses on a dedicated stage. What a fantastic opportunity and unforgettable experience for the various artists from BIMM.
Where’s it happening?
Brighton is certainly the place to be for booming musical events. There is something scintillatingly special about sensational sounds and singalongs at the seaside. Preston Park is a scenic spot for a music festival minutes from the coast and surrounded by hotels, hostels, B&B’s both of the standard and air variety. Travelling from London you can get to Together The People in around an hour and it will feel like you are on a different planet compared to the hustle and bustle of the big city.
Brian Wilson performing Pet Sounds
There are many magnificent musicians to mention but the main event is the (utterly deserving of the word) legend Brian Wilson. The Beach Boys Pet Sounds album celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and Brian Wilson – the creative genius behind this ground breaking masterpiece is headlining TTP for a UK festival exclusive.
This is most definitely shaping up to be an unmissable performance – judging from some of the reviews of Brian’s recent live performances. The Beach Boy received outstanding praise from everyone, including: The Guardian who wrote “a spectacularly moving evening… Euphoric whoops greet opening set of glorious singles from 60s at evening that brilliantly renders his back catalogue”. Rolling Stone wrote “The encore, like the first half, is raucously enjoyable rock & roll, but after half a century Pet Sounds is still something else entirely.” As if the music didn’t speak for itself, God only knows why you would miss this.
Don’t get us wrong, there are so many more acts that you also need to see at Together The People. In fact, the line-up is absolutely stacked and there is a wonderfully eclectic selection of acts performing across the weekend. Variety is absolutely key at a festival, especially one such as this with a real sense of community about it. The musical mix is marvellous, here is just a taster of the line up:
To top it all off the Saturday headliner is yet to be announced! How exciting is that?
