CLUB NME: TicketWeb Chats To Glass Caves

So, Club NME is a shindig that happens every Friday at KOKO, so with that in mind, we want to get to the bottom of your ultimate Friday night…

We spoke to Glass Caves ahead of their appearance this Friday night. Tickets available HERE

What do you usually do on Friday nights when you’re not providing the entertainment at Club NME?

If we’re not locked away writing our second record we might head down to our favourite shabby pub in Pontefract called The Broken Bridge and drink Whisky on the rocks.

What’s the closest you’ve got to a weekend that could have been straight out of The Hangover?

Recently played a gig for the opening night at a new hotel in London called Urban Villa. Free cocktails from Richard Branson’s ‘favourite’ bar tender, free burgers from The Beefy Boys; UNREAL and free double deluxe rooms to stay in all fitted with Nespresso machines and balconies (in that order) to wake up to. Decent.

What are your ultimate Friday night party jams?

Groove heavy tracks, especially Reggae. We love Reggae.

What are you drinking – do you have a tipple of choice?

Tipple of choice is IPA Reserve. An IPA a day keeps the doctor away, so they say.

How long do you spend looking in the mirror before you’re ready to hit the town?

It depends which band member it is but mostly we’re fairly quick about it no messing about. We have a lot of hair that naturally finds it’s place.

You’re at a club, where can we expect to find you – loitering at the bar, throwing some shapes on the dance floor, chatting someone up, sitting in a corner?

Throwing shapes, no hesitation.

You’ve just left the club and you’re looking for a 4am snack, what’s your go-to post-club grub?

Meat feast pizza smothered in chilli sauce. Only ever had chilli sauce so hot that I couldn’t finish it once, it was mint.

Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever spotted on a night out?

Once saw MJ out in Leeds but he was dancing too hard to get a chance to say hello.

What’s your best/worst journey home story? Ever got stranded in the middle of nowhere?

Worst journey was returning from a gig in London. It was winter, there was no heating in this rusty old Merc van we had but the windows got steamy because of body moisture. Had to travel from London to Leeds -2 degrees outside with the windows open, sat in the back of the van. On the verge of passing through to the other side.

Worst Friday night injury – Frinjury, if you will?

Not really had Friday night injuries. We just get day-before-gig football injuries. Elliott (Drummer) smashed his teeth in the day before a headline slot and I (Matt) snapped my wrist the day before 3 headline shows.

Saturday morning has rolled around and you’ve got a bit of a sore head – what’s your best hangover cure?

I heard they’re all old wives tales, but Elliott downs 4 pint of water before he goes to sleep in a vain attempt to avoid suffering.
