The craft beer scene has exploded in the UK over the past decade, with more than 2,000 breweries now plying their trade everywhere from Plymouth to Aberdeen.
Alongside the explosion of people making beer, there’s also been a rise in demand for people attending beer festivals, to meet the makers and fellow enthusiasts of their favourite hop-based beverages.
Whether an expert or enthusiastic beginner, there’s probably a beer festival near you to get involved in.

Summer Beer Thing
When is it? Friday 28 – Sunday 30 June 2019
Where it is? Sadler’s Yard, Manchester
What can you expect? Brought to thirsty Mancunians by the team behind Indy Man Beer Con, Summer Beer Thing, now in its third year, is a 3-day celebration of Summer where you enjoy cherry picked craft beers, cocktails, prosecco and street food in the sunshine.
Beer Central Festival
When is it? Friday 5 – Saturday 6 July 2019
Where it is? 119 Digbeth, Birmingham
What can you expect? DJ Yoda and Kaiser Chiefs will be spinning tunes as breweries such as Cloudwater, Mikeller, Wild Beer Co and more serve up their latest creations. Your ticket price includes all your beer for the session.
Silloth Music and Beer Festival
When is it? Thursday 5 – Sunday 8 September 2019
Where it is? Silloth Green, Silloth
What can you expect? The not for profit festival brings over 60 ales to the Cumbrian seaside alongside a full music programme. There’s also plenty of cider, soft drinks and over beverages on other for the non-beer drinkers.
Indy Man Beer Con
When is it? Thursday 3 – Sunday 6 October
Where it is? Victoria Baths, Manchester
What can you expect? The hugely popular festival will see thousands of punters walk through the doors of Manchester’s historic Victoria Baths to sample some of the worlds’ finest craft beers. Hurry though. There are only tickets left for Thursday and Sunday.
Craft Beer Calling
When is it? Thursday 24 – Saturday 26 October 2019
Where it is? Wylam Brewery, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
What can you expect? Newcastle’s picturesque Wylam Brewery opens its doors for the weekend, inviting over 30 breweries from all across the world into toon. There’s also street food from Gateshead’s By The River Co shipping container markets.
