Last Wednesday we all headed east for the first ever TicketWeb sponsored Stage 3 Sessions at the iconic Hackney Empire Theatre.

Here’s what went down.

The first act to take the stage was the charming Charlie Hole from London. With his mix of deeply personal songs twinned with a captivating stage presence and well-crafted inter song banter he rewarded the early arrivals with a fine set. Charlie is definitely an artist you want to keep an eye on.

In-between bands, the IPA flowed and TicketWeb’s own JT took to the decks to entertain the ever growing crowd with a wide ranging selection of tunes. The room was packed to capacity as various members of White Room began turning guitars and adjusting cymbal stands in preparation for their performance.

Brighton’s White Room took to the stage like they meant it.  There’s a lot of hype surrounding this band at the moment and within the opening moments of their set you could tell why.  All eyes were on frontman Jake as he captivated his audience like a cross between Ian Brown and Alex Turner. White Room have a mature tightly wound sound that is far beyond their years.

More tunes (and more IPA) followed their set as anticipation began to build for the mysterious Jimi Charles Moody to hit the stage.  The patient crowd mingled, when suddenly Moody was forced to pull out of the show with illness. Gutted.

These things happen unfortunately and it’s just made us even more excited to see him in the future. Luckily our DJ had loads more tunes in his locker and everyone danced the night away.

Thanks to everyone who came down.

We’re in the middle of planning the next Stage 3 Sessions. Keep an eye on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for more info soon!
