Interview: Vault Festival Organiser Kate Bond

HeForShe & ThisisWIRED Presents Vault Festival, a night of wonder, women and wicked music.

TicketWeb favourite Nadia Rose headlines the night of live music, DJs and dancing with Jamz Supernova, Etta Bond, Melle Brown, Emmavie and more. The event takes place at The Vaults, Leake St. London SE1 7NN Friday 9 March. Doors open at 22:30.

We caught up with Kate Bond owner & organiser of ThisIsWired ahead of Vault Festival in aid of UN Women’s charity HeForShe.

How did ThisIsWired and HeForShe end up working together?

We recently did a gig with Emeli Sande to raise awareness about refugees and basic human rights. Lucky for us, one of the HeForShe organisers was in the crowd and loved what we did. Once we were approached with the idea to curate the line up for HeForShe at Vault Festival, it was a no-brainer. I like a challenge too, we’ve also decided to try and raise £10k on the night – all proceeds go to HeForShe.

Who are you looking forward to seeing on the night?

I have a special place in my heart for all of the people on the bill, and I think they each bring something very different to the night. Emmavie has been honing her craft while on tour with Maseago, so I’m pretty excited to hear her band live. Etta Bond has the best voice on the planet (yes, I went there!) and I think Nadia Rose AND Jamz Supernova are going to make it hard for us to sit down and take a break from the dance floor.

What can people expect when they walk into the Vaults on Friday 9th March?

Our resident DJ, Melle Brown will warm you up and then you’ll get pummelled with Live Music, DJ’s and Dancers, not to mention a constant flow of GOOD VIBES!

The campaign for gender equality seems more pertinent than ever before.  What changes do you hope to see in 2018?

It’s a pretty exciting time right now! Lights are being shone on pay gaps, sexual harassment and gender inequality like never before. But I hope this doesn’t turn into a full-on male bashing session because there are incredible men out there fighting for all human rights. We need all people, not just females to get onboard with this movement. We can’t be equal if we are one-sided.

Will there be more events from ThisIsWired and HeForShe?

I hope so! If they’ll have us back…Put in a good word for us, yeah?!

Thanks Kate you’re a legend!
