SW4 – More Than Just Electronic Music

Less than a month to go til South West Four

We all know that South West Four is one of the best Dance music festivals in Europe. They’ve been knocking it out of the Clapham Common park for over a decade. This will not change anytime soon, however, the organisers have decided to add a little bit more to the musical offering of the event this year.

Below are some of the acts that will get you dancing but aren’t strictly tied to the Dance music genre … you get me?

Dizzee Rascal

Who are you handing the microphone to for the afternoon headline set to get Clapham Common bouncing? East London’s Grime legend man like Dizzee is the first MC that comes to mind. The veteran party-starter will bring enough energy to keep you going for the next 12 hours guaranteed.

Nadia Rose

The Croydon native has a reputation for her high-octane live performance. The young wordsmith has a ferocious stage presence and will add to the barrage of party vibes coming from the main stage with her fresh Hip-Hop sound.

Sinead Harnett

With a sold out KOKO headline show scheduled for October, Sinead Harnett looks to be one of the next big names in UK Soul. It’s a long day so it will be a welcome change of pace when she takes to stage on Saturday. Having sung on records for Disclosure & Rudimental expect some bangers as well as some chilled out sexy vibes.

Example

Granted Example is a DJ but he really made a name for himself by providing the vocals for his smash hit dance tunes a few years ago. Whether he goes big on the mic or not, his set will be a great time regardless.

Idris Elba

Again … we’re aware that Idris Elba is coming to SW4 to perform a live DJ set but it’s worth pointing out to the 1% of you who don’t know that he’s also a Hollywood superstar actor. He’s done everything from saving the day as the iconic DCI Luther, to voicing the terrifying villain Shere Khan in the Jungle Book remake. He can also move – check the video below …

What can’t Idris Elba do?

We welcome the additions of varying genres and music styles to SW4. Of course, the festival has stayed true to its core fanbase by booking some of the best Electronic Music acts on the planet but it’s a nice bonus to have a little something different thrown in the mix too. More Hip-Hop and UK Rap acts to look out for across the weekend include; Bugzy Malone, Ocean Wisdom, Stefflon Don, Kojo Funds, Lethal Bizzle, Yungen, Big Tobz, Nafe Smallz and Big Narstie.
