Exclusive Mix: Steve Cobby

DJ Magazine have said that Cobby deserves a knighthood for his “major contribution to downtempo funk in this country and leftfield dance music in general.” The man knows music.

Steve’s history is pretty significant. Best known for Fila Brazillia & Pork Recordings. Last year he wrote and performed with Northern poet Russ Litten at a Labour Party rally and has since struck up a friendship with Jeremy Corbyn, as he dedicated all money from the track ‘For The Many’ to the party.  He was commissioned to write the score for a film about Hull, the European City of Culture and Steve’s home.

He’s a musical genius no doubt about it. Described by some as Beethoven of the North. Steve’s new LP titled Hemidemisemiquaver is dropping very soon. This album is a kaleidoscopic trip into the musical hive-mind of hirsute hero Steve Cobby, conjured up in his shed/studio in his backyard, in Hull.
