New Music: Gothic Tropic

Los Angeles group Gothic Tropic, spearheaded by front-woman Cecillia Della Peruti produce rockin’ indie pop with a nod to 70’s era female rock nobility.

Gothic Tropic was originally formed in 2011, it’s the brainchild of lead singer and guitarist Cecilia Della Peruti but she’s been kept remarkably busy with other projects since then. She has admitted that at that stage, although Gothic Tropic released an EP they were only jamming really, and the band has seen some personnel changes since. During the lifespan of the band Cecilia has been on tour with Børns, Charlie XCX, and Night Terrors of 1927. Well travelled.

Della Peruti has been involved in an interconnected LA Indie music scene for a while and she has been quoted saying she just kept taking new stuff on because she continued to get recommended by people. Consistently working with other people’s bands made Cecilia realise that she wanted to develop her own and be at the helm of the ship so now the focus is firmly on Gothic Tropic and with an album due out in February it’s full steam ahead.

Check out the video for single “Stronger” featuring the defiant call to arms “I’m gonna make waves, don’t wanna be the same”. I think we’ve all been there.

Also check out the funky “Don’t Give Me Up”;

Cards on the table; we think Gothic Tropic are awesome, even their rider requests are impossibly cool and Californian, these include; beer, tequila, herbal tea, pita & hummus among other trendy items. So we’re delighted to announce that the band will be playing at Ticketweb’s First Fifty showcase at The Old Blue Last on Wednesday the 23rd of November.  Hopefully they are aware that the weather in England won’t be quite as nice as California.
