North London bedroom producer Tom Tripp – the things he can do with a laptop!
The Line Of Best Fit have compared Tom to legendarily reclusive West London producer Jai Paul. To see if you agree check out “Pamela” which came out on 18th August via Tom’s own label Prime Sound. According to the blurb we were sent, the song “uses Pamela Anderson’s iconic Baywatch run as a metaphor for Tom’s relationship struggles” – we reckon it’s simply a classic slice of Prince-inspired funk.
Tom’s time growing up on the Caledonian Road mostly consisted of listening to Grime & Timberland era RnB pop hits. As he told Wonderland “I got involved in music production because I found as a young kid that whenever I’d listen to music, I was always drawn to the melody and instrumentation of a song”. The game changed when a certain NAO heard the track Aurelia, loved it, and asked to release it via her record label, Little Tokyo.
Check out the aforementioned “Aurelia” below…
And listen to Tom’s guest appearance on the Mura Masa track “Helpline”…
When can I see Tom live then?
Despite appearing alongside A$AP Rocky, Desiigner and Charli XCX as part of Mura Masa’s set at this year’s Coachella; Tom will play his first EVER solo show at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on 25th October. Get tickets at ticketweb.co.uk/tomtripp
