Streetfest, the UK’s first and only live art festival, is set in the heart of London, showcasing some of the biggest and brightest talent from a collective of creative musicians, DJs, painters, performers, designers, dancers, illustrators, skaters, in-liners, free runners, fashion designers and graffiti writers. Throughout the day, the performers will be giving demos and taking part in live shows to show you just how they get down to business. The most creative, dynamic festival of the summer, Streetfest is now in its 7th year and showing no signs of slowing down! You can grab your tickets for Streetfest here.
Taking place at Formans Fish Island in Hackney Wick, Streetfest isn’t like all the other festivals out there, because not only does it provide you with some of the finest cuts of music around, but it encompasses many forms of expressive art and gives you, the festival-going public, the chance to immerse yourself in a world of brilliant creativity. Bringing in various curators to provide you with the slickest talent from their respective fields, Streetfest ensures that it purveys you with the best of the best.
One of our fave things to check out is the live art battles, in the form of graffiti and digital designs – for those of you who always wondered how art comes to life, this is the hotspot to check out. If Streetfest leaves you feeling inspired to take up art, but you’re somewhat lacking in the skills, there’s even workshops onsite that can teach you new skills!
As you would expect from a street festival, there will be DJs and artists on the day playing you some of the sickest beats – last year featured Oddissee, Dot Rotton, DJ Vadim, DJ Nikki Beatnik, Livin’ Proof and Supa Dupa Fly, and we’re expecting to see another A* line up this year!
Sport is also a huge part of what Streetfest is about, with skateboarding, dancing and free running all having a platform to show you what they’re really all about. Be prepared to be totally amazed by what these guys can show you with just their bodies (and skates, obviously)
If we haven’t convinced you, don’t take our word for it. We caught up with Chloe, part of the Streetfest team to get the lowdown on what Streetfest is about.
