Laura Oakes was raised in North-West England but her head and her heart have always been in Nashville…
Singer-songwriter Laura Oakes from Liverpool.
Pure country story-telling inspired by the likes of Dolly Parton, David Gates and the Dixie Chicks. Check out Laura’s latest release “Dreamin'” below…
When most kids turn 18 all they want is a party, but all Laura wanted was to visit the Grand Ole Opry and to see the sights and sounds of Nashville. Inspired by that trip she’s gone on to become one of the most hotly tipped country singers in the UK. With praise from BBC Introducing, BBC Radio’s 2 Bob Harris she has supported some of the most notable talent coming out of the UK and US, including Andrew Combs, The Shires, Colm Mac Com Iomaire (The Frames) and Ward Thomas. And having been crowned Best Female Vocalist at the BCMAs two years running so it definitely feel like she’s found her niche!
“Snakes & Ladders” was well up there in the iTunes Country Chart when it came out a couple of years ago…
…plus one of our personal faves is this acoustic version of Whatever You Want. Love that shirt too!
Where can I see her live?
Laura is booked for a host of festivals this summer including Eroica Britannia this weekend and Camp Bestival next month. Keep your eye peeled at www.ticketweb.co.uk/lauraoakes for upcoming shows in the U.K.
