Founded in 2007, Field Day was the brainchild of Tom Baker of Eat Your Own Ears, one of London’s most prestigious promoters, and Marcus Weedon. Billed as ‘London’s new psychedelic summer fete’ at the time, the festival also shared the weekend with Underage Festival’s inaugural weekend (RIP Underage Fest). Since its inception, Field Day has come on leaps and bounds, outliving many of its contemporaries, so much so that this year’s festival will be spread across the whole weekend! Two whole days of Field Day hijinks – what more could you ask for? Tickets are available here!
Set in the heart of cool East London, Field Day is notorious for being edgier than its peers, owning to its tendency to book a much more leftfield line-up, as well as it’s kooky village fete set up that brings a welcomed sense of community within the festival. Gathering incredible artists from all over the world, Field Day teams up with some of the best promoters in the land to bring you a whole host of great talent that you might not find altogether elsewhere.
Field Day is also famed for its uber-fashionable attendees, so much so that Vogue even headed down to the festival last year to check out the clobber being paraded around the festival! You can check out last year’s gallery here.
If you get peckish at the festival, there are loads of really great places to fill your stomach dotted around the site! The incomparable StreetFeast will be in attendance this year, teaming up with Meantime Brewery to offer you the best food and great beers. Joining in for the digestible fun will be Venn Street Market, who bring a range of different culinary treats from around the world. Neighbouring with Venn Street Market will be The London Brewer’s Market, who focus on artisan brewing in the city, bringing you the ‘cream of the crop’. Confirmed so far are: The Five Points Brewing Company, Hackney / Beavertown Brewery, Hackney Wick / Fourpure Brewing Co, Bermondsey / Crate Brewery, Hackney Wick / Meantime Brewing Company, Greenwich & Redemption Craft Brewery, Tottenham. If that’s not enough, Tim Peaks Coffee will also be there, keeping you perked up throughout the weekend!
